Education: Hands on Learning
Our educational ideology stems from the belief that one learns the most about making art and exhibitions by doing--through participation and direct experience we expand our understanding of what we do. Protocinema's internship program offers students and young professionals the unique opportunity to work in a small, transnational organization where every helping hand is put to work and each project is a collaboration. Professionals work side by side with our interns, mentoring them throughout the process while allowing real opportunities for leadership. In Istanbul, Protocinema maintains an active Internship program with Sabanci University's School of Arts & Social Sciences where students are selected on a project-specific basis to match their interests with artists working on upcoming Protocinema exhibitions. In New York, Protocinema has year-long internship programs available for students from New York University's Masters Program in Museum Studies, tailored to each student's area of expertise. Both young artists and emerging museum professionals have the opportunity to work side by side with professional artists and Protocinema staff to learn first hand and develop valuable relationships in their fields.
